Bye Bye Belly Flies
by J. Robinson

Bye Bye Belly Flies is the third book in The Nanny Series following Never Wake a Sleeping Nanny and You Can Have Mine. This time Nanny is helping her granddaughter navigate feelings of anxiety. The granddaughter innocently refers to her feelings as "Belly Flies" and Nanny knows just what to do. Through rhyme, gentle calming phrases and love, nanny guides her grandchild through a grounding exercise using the five senses of sight, sound, smell, taste and touch - referred to as the 3 S's and 2 T's. The special bond between grandmother and grandchild is clear and with nanny's soothing words and wisdom the child is able to get past those feelings in her belly and find joy and happiness again.

This book fills a much overlooked gap and offers an additional tool in helping children grow to be independent, well balanced adults in an ever busier world. It also includes strategies to use at the end as a tool to help. Dr. Anthony Njoku, MBBS, FRCPsych (UK) Physician Program Lead, Addictions & Mental Health Horizon Health Network Through the comforting relationship between a child and her nanny, young readers are introduced to a practical, developmentally appropriate grounding strategy and the important message that anxiety is a normal human experience. Dr. Kate Stymiest, MD FRCPC, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Effective and evidence-based strategies for calming a child’s “belly flies” are shared in language that will benefit all children and their caregivers. A wonderful addition to the series! Dr. Patricia Peterson – Educational Psychology

I am a retired school guidance counsellor and wanted my third book to help children understand feelings of anxiety and how to manage those feelings. The calming strategy described in my book "Bye Bye Belly Flies" was often a tool I would use to help regulate students and calm those "Pesky belly flies". I spent over 3 decades in a middle school and saw many students struggling to get through their day. Grounding exercises, sensual calming tools and visualization exercises provided comfort and validation for the students I saw. I truly loved helping kids and still do supply guidance support at the middle school from where I retired. It is a pleasure and an honor to remind children how much they matter. Sometimes it is as simple as that - I see you and I hear you.
