For more than thirty-five years, Sally Campbell worked across Canada as a lawyer-mediator and conflict resolution educator. In British Columbia, she designed and delivered mediation training for Continuing Legal Education BC and the Justice Institute of BC. Her extensive experience with Indigenous communities greatly expanded her world view and led directly, in 2012, to her initiating and co-creating, with Justice Ardith (Wapetko We’dalks) Walkem and Louise Mandell, KC, an international award-winning Continuing Legal Education Conference on Indigenous Legal Orders. Immersed in Restorative Practices and ways of Circle Peacemaking, Sally practised and taught these approaches for many years. In addition, Sally worked for decades with Provincial Court judges across Canada, delivering Settlement Conference training, and with British Columbia’s Supreme Court judges, teaching mediative approaches. She mediated and taught groups from many branches of government and co-delivered training in negotiation to RCMP nationwide. Working with leadership at the University of British Columbia for over ten years as a conflict specialist, Sally mediated, designed and delivered training in various aspects of conflict engagement to a wide range of faculties and departments, as well as coaching and teaching faculty heads and new managers. Public recognition of her contributions includes Family Mediation Canada’s Award of Excellence for Education and Training, and Mediate BC’s Susanna Jani Award for Excellence in Mediation. Sally lives with her husband on Hornby Island, BC. In her spare time, she practises T’ai Chi, walks the beach and plays in community theatre. This is her first book.
