He was raised in a bush town, with much bush exposure even as a child. Willard Helge Anderson is the former Chief Parks Naturalist of Manitoba, with seventy-eight years of outdoor experience under his belt. He has travelled a dozen rivers in Manitoba and had sightings of polar bears and beluga whales in addition to his contact with Sasquatch. Besides his naturalist and outdoor experience, Anderson has taught at the elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels, including as a biology and geography teacher at the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, and Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He has also published There Are Only Two Problems in the World: Living with the Earth and Living with Each Other (1999) and The Killing Fields: Slaughter of Wildlife in Provincial Parks (2002; revised 2007). He has given a number of talks across North America, as well as in London, England, in his areas of expertise, as well as mounted a photo exhibit at the Concert Hall in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He has been featured in the Winnipeg Tribune (“Ski Safari Unfolds Secrets of Winter Life,” February 17, 1975) and the Winnipeg Free Press (“Bat Hunter Finds Gold,” May 26, 1984).
