With the help of some friendly, caring humans, he survives to lead a band of orphan birds as they are released into the wild. About the author Paul Miller is an award-winning writer based in Toronto who learned from his father at an early age how fascinating birds can be. He lives with his wife Janeen Bowes and their dog Lizzie in an old house in a midtown neighbourhood of the city, which serves as a base for regular birding expeditions around the province of Ontario, to other parts of the country, and in recent years to exotic locales like Panama and Costa Rica. About the illustrator Suzanne Matheson is a natural science illustrator based in Devon, Alberta, whose work is informed by a sense of the interconnected nature of all things. Her accurate depictions of a wide range of natural subjects have graced a variety of publications and end uses such as signage for conservation areas. She also creates custom portraits, as well as both designing and hand-crafting bespoke custom jewellery.
