Every day I look for something special from God—a shining moment in time when my spirit recognizes Him in the world around me, causing it to soar with love and gratitude. Shining moments occur even amid the most ordinary of days. These moments of beauty, joy, and connection that lift us from the mundane to the memorable do not happen by chance. They are gifts from God. In Each Shining Moment, author Valerie Ronald reflects on these precious signs of God’s love. From frost flowers on an icy windowpane to the way a glove takes on the shape of a loved one’s hand, Ronald’s devotional meditations show how even the most seemingly unremarkable things are extraordinary when we take the time to notice them. Valerie Ronald has processed her experiences and emotions through writing since she was a child. Having written monthly devotionals for her home church for twenty-four years, its members asked her to compile them into a book. Eager to share with others how God has worked in her life, that compilation would become the book you now hold in your hands. Her hope is that it will help readers deepen their relationship with God, no matter where they are in their spiritual journey. Ronald holds a post-secondary diploma in journalism and has published a number of articles in faith-based publications, including two anthologies, Easter Stories & More (2023) and Creativity & Chaos (2024). Having been a Christian most her life, she has studied the Bible in depth—the main inspiration for her writing—and has held various church leadership roles. She was recipient of InScribe Christian Writers Fellowship’s Barnabas Award in 2023. She is a member of Crescent Heights Chapel in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, and of Prairie Pens, a writer’s group in her area, in addition to InScribe Christian Writers Fellowship. Valerie lives in Portage la Prairie with her husband. They have seven children and ten grandchildren.
